Job Description

Job Title: Surgical Tech

Location: Hyannis, MA 02601

Schedule: 40 hours/week; 8- or 10-hour shifts

Shift Options: 7:00 AM – 3:30/5:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:30/7:30 PM

Compensation
  • Local Candidates (within 50 miles): Up to $2,000 weekly

  • Travel Candidates (outside 50 miles): Up to $2,500 weekly

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate thorough technical knowledge of the surgical environment, infection control, and sterile techniques to support quality patient care.

  • Prepare the operating room with surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and solutions.

  • Maintain sterility in accordance with hospital policy and AORN Standards of Care.

  • Perform scrub tech duties across all surgical specialties.

  • Assemble and check sterile/non-sterile equipment for proper functionality.

  • Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons and assistants during procedures.

  • Assist with retractors, sutures, counts (sponges, needles, instruments), and specimen handling.

  • Support with surgical dressings, equipment prep, and sterilization processes.

  • Ensure correct instruments and supplies are available per case and surgeon preference.

  • Help transport and position patients in the operating room.

  • Operate and assist with lights, suction, diagnostic equipment, and sterilizers.

  • Safely prepare and label medications under supervision during procedures.

  • Aid in patient transfer to recovery and OR turnover between cases.

  • Uphold patient privacy, dignity, and safety at all times.

  • Assist in onboarding new OR staff and contribute to team-based collaboration.

  • Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, and skills development.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited civilian or military Surgical Technician program

  • Must obtain national certification within 12 months of graduation and maintain active certification

  • Certified by a nationally accredited body recognized by both the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologists

  • Current BLS certification required

  • Orthopedic surgery experience strongly preferred

Education & Licensure
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred
